We took a closer look at our country to better understand how it is structured and organised to accommodate us bikers.<\/p>\n<p>We obviously realised that there are municipalities that are more organised than others and <a href=\"https:\/\/ladradibiciclette.it\/tag\/comuni-ciclabili\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cycling cities<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>already a great little example of eco-sustainability and green lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>We must give the Italian Environment and Bicycle Federation credit for having methodically begun to map our country from a cycling perspective. We are talking about the 'Comuni Ciclabili' project, conceived by Alessandro Tursi. launched in the summer of 2017 in the form of a collection of<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>voluntary applications.<\/p>\n<p>The project invited interested cities to participate by filling in questionnaires to be verified by local representatives. The result of the first edition revealed a total of 69 participating municipalities, to which 13 more were subsequently added.<\/p>\n<p>As of July 2020, there are now 136 bicycle-friendly cities and towns. Specifically, we have seen that Florence is the fourth regional capital to have joined after Turin, Bologna and Trento.<\/p>\n<p>L<a href=\"https:\/\/ladradibiciclette.it\/tag\/emilia-romagna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emilia Romagna<\/a> is the leading region with 25 municipalities, followed by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ladradibiciclette.it\/tag\/veneto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Veneto<\/a>\u00a0which comes in at 21. In third position is the<a href=\"https:\/\/ladradibiciclette.it\/abruzzo-in-bicicletta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abruzzo<\/a>\u00a0which, with the new coastal municipalities of Vasto and San Salvo, comes to a total of 15, we finally find the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ladradibiciclette.it\/tag\/lombardia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lombardy<\/a>\u00a0with 12 municipalities.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2020 edition, postponed due to Covid, Rome also joined the pool of Italian Bicycle Municipalities<strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0an encouraging result given the wonder of our capital city and the many municipalities it encompasses.<\/p>\n<p>Italy therefore confirms itself as an increasingly transformative and bike-friendly country. The Covid-19 pandemic is changing the geography of mobility worldwide through the implementation of an extensive network of cycle paths.<\/p>\n<p>Public transport, considered a safety risk due to its inability to foster social distancing rules, has increasingly pushed citizens towards sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n<p>This is helped by the adoption of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spaziobici.it\/guide\/bonus-bici-cose-come-funziona-e-come-richiedere-il-bonus-mobilita-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bonus Bike<\/a>\u00a0and other important regulatory changes, such as the inclusion of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spaziobici.it\/approfondimenti\/casa-avanzata-cose-a-cosa-serve-vantaggi-e-svantaggi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advanced House<\/a>\u00a0in the Highway Code.<\/p>\n<p>The figures speak for themselves, in May alone there was a<a href=\"https:\/\/spaziobici.it\/notizie\/mobilita-con-il-bonus-impennata-nellinteresse-per-le-biciclette-in-italia-225\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">surge in bicycle research and sales<\/a>confirming an epochal turning point that is now tangible.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Questa settimana ci siamo chiesti se l\u2019Italia sia un paese ciclabile o meno.
