In September and October, there was even a 73% increase and 60% more bicycles were purchased.

Interesting are the statements of the European Cyclists Federation (Ecf), which states that after the lock-down, more than 2,300 km of new stretches have been announced in Europe, of which 1,000 have already been realised, with investments amounting to 1 billion Euros.

If we look at Italy in more detail, we find that 193 km of pop-up cycle paths have been created in Italy, with Milan leading the way and the city of Genoa in second place.

Arezzo has increased its cycle routes by 3.5 km and limited the transit of cars in the city centre, Bari has created the 'light cycle path' for small city trips, while Bologna Cagliari and Florence have greatly expanded existing routes. Of the 150 km announced in the Extraordinary Plan, Rome has so far realised just over 15 km.

In Italy, there are therefore 2,341 existing kilometres distributed in 22 Italian cities. For Legambiente, it will be necessary to double the number of cycle kilometres by 2025 by including this type of intervention in the Recovery Plan.

If you are curious and would like to discover the map of sustainable mobility in Italy, you can search the cycle routes site to see all existing routes by choosing between regions, a province and even your municipality.

We at Donno Bikes would like to suggest a few in the meantime.

The Ciclovia Adriatica for example will be a huge cycle path that will literally cross the country from north to south. In fact, it will be possible to start from Trieste all the way to Santa Maria di Leuca with the Adriatic Sea as a fixed backdrop.

As you travel along it, you will discover the enchanting and relaxing places along the eastern coast of the peninsula with the sea, nature and the beautiful Apulian countryside at your side.

In Liguria, we recommend the route considered the most beautiful in Italy. It starts in Levanto and goes as far as Framura. The scenery along the way is that of the Ligurian Sea and in two hours you can visit ancient roads and tunnels typical of this region.

Located between Mantua and Peschiera del Garda, we find the Ciclovia del Mincio, this cycle path is accessible to the whole family, you will be able to enjoy beautiful bicycle rides in total safety.

Between Spoleto and Norcia, we discover a very special and evocative cycle path. In ancient times, this track was nothing more than a simple railway line that ceased to exist only fifty years ago.

Travelling along these roads it will be possible to enjoy the green landscape of Umbria to the full, passing through ancient villages, hills and roads that are unique and enchanting.

Finally, we would like to pay tribute to the cycle path that runs from the Navigli in Milan to Lecco. It is a route that will immerse you totally in nature.

You will drive about 80 kilometres from the chaotic Milan through unspoilt nature. The Adda Park will be your backdrop, until you reach Lecco, where you can admire the breathtaking panorama of Lake Como.

Taking a broader look at the European situation, we come across the European cycle network Euro Velo, a project of the ECF (European Cyclists' Federation) that aims to develop a network of 15 cycle routes across the European continent.

In detail The project envisages more than 70000 km of cycle network of which more than 40000 km already exist. We are talking about a section that saw the light of day at the end of the 1990s, but it was not until 2007 that the first funding became available, which allowed the project to actually start.

Observing the European scenario, we realised that ranking the most beautiful cycle routes in Europe is by no means easy. There are many very different routes, both in terms of characteristics as well as landscape and setting. We would like to describe to you some of the most beautiful, obviously developed in a sustainable way with services for cycle tourists within them, which should also be enhanced in the European cycle routes outside the ranking.

The most travelled cycle route in Europe is undoubtedly the one along the Danube River. A section that stretches some 2860 km and cuts across the old continent from west to east, ending its journey in Constance, on the Black Sea.

In France, on the other hand, there is a cycle route that runs along the course of the river, we are talking about the Loire cycle route, known as the Loire à vélo, due to the presence of numerous castles. It offers the possibility of visiting important and culturally interesting towns.

The Berlin-Copenhagen cycle route connecting the German and Danish capitals is also beautiful. It is highly suggestive to enjoy a ride through the characteristic landscapes of the North Sea.

Finally, we find one of the classic European cycle routes: the Avenue Verte, which connects the French capital with that of the United Kingdom. The route runs mostly in France between majestic castles and historic villages. The English part, on the other hand, allows us to ride through areas belonging to the National Cycle Route.

It is exciting for us to note that over the years the number of cycle tourists, but also of cycle routes, in our old continent has grown exponentially.

A change that owes much to the bike-friendly influences of the central and northern European states, which already have thousands of kilometres of cycle paths and equipped cycle lanes, a truly important example of eco-sustainability.

[154

post-24566","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
