Bike bonus 2021: how it works and who can use the tax credit of up to 750 euro<\/h2>\n

By popular demand, the mobility bonus<\/strong>which is the national contribution that reimburses part of the purchase of e-bikes and electric scooters. We decided to draw up this guide on bonus bikes and scooters<\/strong> to make everyone understand what it is and, of course, how it works.<\/p>\n

Before we begin, a very important and necessary clarification must be made: this is not a bonus similar to the one issued last year<\/strong>which gave everyone the chance to buy an electric vehicle with a price cut of up to EUR 500. The conditions are very specific this time.<\/p>\n

\nAccording to the decree of the Ministry of the Economy, published in the Official Gazette on 29 October, this new bike and scooter bonus is actually a tax credit<\/strong> up to EUR 750, to be used within three years from its first application - in 2020 in the previous bike and scooter bonus.<\/p>\n

For this very reason, it should be emphasised that the 'bonus' will not be applicable as a discount at the time of payment, but will only be valid for those who have previously made the purchase<\/strong> of an eligible vehicle or season ticket (we will see later which vehicles are eligible) Covered acquisitions, in a nutshell, will be reimbursed through a tax discount during the annual tax return... and not on payment at the checkout!<\/p>\n

Bonus electric bicycles and scooters: all those who can use the tax credit<\/h2>\n

This tax credit is available to all those who, from 1 August 2020 to 31 December 2020, at the time of thepurchase of a vehicle with CO2 emissions between 0 and 110 g\/km, have scrapped an M1 category vehicle<\/strong> (we are talking about a vehicle with carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions not exceeding 110 g\/km). The scrapped M1 means of transport must have been in the name of the person claiming the tax credit for at least one year or, at most, of a family member living with it.<\/p>\n

What can the new 750 euro bonus be used for? As we mentioned at the beginning, the tax credit can be used for electric scooters, electric or muscle bicycles, public transport subscriptions, and sustainable (or shared) electric mobility services.<\/p>\n

Bonus electric bikes and scooters: how to claim the tax method up to 750 euro<\/h2>\n

When the questions will be open application for this new bonus directly on the Inland Revenue website<\/strong>The procedure can be carried out online (by a date not yet defined at the time of writing) or within the IO App.<\/p>\n

The Inland Revenue Agency will also establish the timing and modalities in a measure to be issued within ninety days from the date of entry into force of the decree<\/strong>. It is compulsory that the application contains the amount of the eligible expenditure incurred in the year 2020. Please note that if the facilitation requested is wholly or partially not due to the applicant, the Inland Revenue Agency will proceed to recover the amount.<\/p>\n

It should be considered that the tax credit, according to the Ministry of the Economy, can be used exclusively in the tax return as a reduction of taxes due<\/strong> and can be used no later than 2022. The credit - most importantly - cannot be combined with other tax concessions for the same expenses.<\/p>\n

Finally, it will always be the Revenue Agency that will determine the percentage of refund to all those who have applied. How will this credit percentage be determined? All refunds will be calculated on the basis of requests received<\/strong> and the resources made available by the government (i.e. five million euros); the same way we have already seen with the Cashback programme.<\/p>\n
