Sara's Story: From the Wrong Choice to the Rediscovery of Cycling

Sara came to us with the intention of buying a bicycle for herself. Finding out that she had a little girl, we suggested her a cargo bikebut she was very uncertain at the time. After a period of silence, we discovered that she had opted for another, cheaper electric bicycle, not realising the significant differences between the two models.

Its purchase is proved problematicThe bicycle was bulky, heavy and unstable. She found it difficult to move it, to lift it, and had problems with the battery, ending up riding a very heavy bike with a flat battery. The bicycle became less and less used and, after a fall, Sara decided that this type of bicycle was not for her.

At that moment, she thought she had done well not to invest in a more expensive model. She contacted us to discuss her experience, convinced that the bike was not suitable for her. However, knowing these situations well, we advised her to meet one of our customers and try out her cargo bike.

Sara was hesitant, but curiosity won her over. I will meet Juliaone of our customers who used her cargo bike to take his two children to school every day. She was struck by the difference: the bicycle was lighter and much more stable than the one she had bought.

After some doubts, Sara decided to buy the cargo bike with the option of returnrisking little or nothing. The bicycle arrived to her already assembled and proved to be fantastic. She could even stand still without difficulty, something she could not do with her old bicycle.

She started to use it a lot, both to go to work and to do the shopping, and soon she felt ready to transport her daughter as well, who found the experience fun and rewarding. Soon, she began to use the bicycle daily, even taking a friend downtown instead of taking the car.

Sara now often tells how choosing the right bicycle can make a big difference.

She learnt not to look only at the initial cost, but to evaluate the use she would make of it. Her old bike, which had only been used about ten times, had cost her more than 100 € per ride, whereas with the new cargo bike, which she had paid 4,875 €, the cost per ride decreased with each use. Already in the first year, she saved more than € 5,000 and has no intention of giving up her cargo bike even for one day.
